Russian Freediver Sets Guinness World Record

Russian free-diver Alexey Molchanov set a new Guinness World Record with an 80 meter (approx 263 ft) dive in Russia’s Lake Baikal. It took Molchanov 2 minutes and 53 seconds to beat the previous record of 75 meters, which was set in Norway in 2019.
Molchanov, who usually dives in warm seas, said the conditions of Lake Baikal were very different. ‘I could hear the cracking and moaning of the ice moving during my training session,’ he told Reuters.
